Recycled cardboard fire in North Mankato
Firefighters hose down burning cardboard after a fire in a recycling truck Monday near the Kwik Trip on Commerce Drive in North Mankato. North Mankato officials say a LJP Waste & Recycle truck's contents caught fire just before 3 p.m. Monday. The truck driver pulled into the Kwik Trip at 1740 Commerce Dr. and dumped the recycled cardboard into the parking lot. Area firefighters sifted through recycling and put the blaze out shortly after 4 p.m. North Mankato Fire Chief Rich Inman said it's unclear how the cardboard caught on fire. The truck was undamaged and no injuries were reported. Photo by Pat Christman
